The project involved working with the management team, architects and funding advisors to develop a robust business plan for the redevelopment and extension for the Square Chapel theatre and performance space to gain lottery funding.
The brief was to clarify the core purpose and market for the bar/café to maximise its contribution both financially and in terms of ambiance. We worked with the architect and design team on issues relating to the design, layout, fit-out specification, supporting facilities, catering equipment and feel of the café and bar area
The business plan was developed for the bar/café offer with reference to the local market and competition and to relevant comparators, recommendations on the staffing structure and in particular, the use of volunteers was made.
The financial projections for the first five years of the proposed bar/café operation and conferencing business was developed, based on the research of the local market and competition for conferencing business.
A conferencing pricing and marketing strategy was created.
The report was included in the overall business plan and the lottery funding application was successful and Square Chapel has received £3.9 million lottery funding through Arts Council England to transform its current space and create a stunning new extension.
