Georgian Gem - The Whitchurch Silk Mill re-opened last Autumn

21 Aug 2019 by Charles Manners

Georgian Gem - The Whitchurch Silk Mill re-opened last Autumn, and a visit there this week to meet the management team and to see the renovated mill and new visitor centre https://whitchurchsilkmill.org.uk/ was very encouraging. The Mill raised £2.1m to carry out the works, and the HLF contributed a significant proportion of the funds, with the remainder raised locally. We advised on the small café design and business plan, which is part staffed by volunteers and is all working well. The new museum shows the Mill working and silk prints being weaved, and the new visitor centre has both the new café and retail shop, a Georgian gem restored. Well worth visiting!
